Residents Ask Scott Twp to Repair Swallow Hill Road

Scott Township officials estimate it will cost $1.5 million to reconstruct the Swallow Hill Road

Barbara Radvansky was embarrassed last August when her family came in from out of town for a wedding and they had to drive down Swallow Hill Road in Scott Township.

“It’s like riding a washboard,” Radvansky said.

She lives on Swallow Hill and told Scott Township commissioners at their Tuesday night workshop meeting the road need to be repaired now.

“I don’t need to tell you how badly it is in disrepair,” she said. “It’s more than an eyesore. It’s a danger. Please do whatever you have to do to get it fixed.”

but are still unsure how long that process will take or how much the repairs might cost. The township estimates the job will cost $1.5 million to reconstruct the road from Scrubgrass Road past the Nob Hill Apartments. Commissioner David Calabria also has an idea on patching the roadway that could cost less.

Board of Commissioners President Tom Castello said they’re working on solutions, trying to get financing and hope to begin work in early summer.

“Something is going to be done this year,” Castello said.
