UPMC Plans Opening Date For New $1.3B Hospital
Here's when UPMC's new $1.3 billion Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Tower is expected to open its doors.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Eight years after plans for it were announced, UPMC has planned an opening date for its new $1.3 billion Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Tower in the heart of Oakland on Fifth Avenue.
The UPMC Presbyterian tower, which has been under construction since 2022, is scheduled to open in January 2027. It is named after the Kamins, who are known for their significant philanthropic efforts in Pittsburgh and contributed $65 million toward the new hospital.
The 900,00 square-foot, 17-story inpatient tower will have 635 private rooms. There also will be 450 adjacent parking spaces.

"With ample space for patients to heal with all private rooms, the space also captures UPMC's vision for linking patients, visitors, and staff to nature and to Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood," a statement on the website said.
