Scott Township has settled a yearlong contract dispute with its public works crew.

The township commissioners unanimously voted on Tuesday night to approve a four-year contract with the 15 workers.

The contract will give the workers $1,200 in retroactive bonuses and 3 percent pay raises each year for the rest of the contract.

The workers, however, will be required to be on-call during winter months for snow plowing or possibly face disciplinary action. That was a major sticking point between the two sides and the main reason the contract dispute dragged on for more than a year.

The disagreement came to the forefront last month when the workers and a union representative told the township commissioners they’re unhappy with the progress of negotiations.
