Cranberry's Busiest Intersection Getting Surveillance Cameras

The devices will be installed at the intersection of Routes 19 and 228 and Freedom Road.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Surveillance cameras are about to be installed at what could be Butler County’s busiest intersection. Township supervisors have approved the camera placements at the intersection of Routes 19, 228 and Freedom Road, where more than 100,000 cars pass through daily.

The township isn’t picking up the $40,000 cost of the camera. That will be paid for by the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, even though Cranberry is in Butler County.

Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala is attempting to build a surveillance camera network in southwestern Pennsylvania. The cameras will alert police officers when a license plate associated with a person wanted on a warrant passes through an intersection.
