Mom Thumps Steelers Trio In Pickleball Game At North Park

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — T.J. Watt knows a good competitor when he sees one, especially when she beats him and two of his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates on the pickleball court.

A local mom "whooped" the three players at North Park over the weekend, according to social media.

Watt's fellow defensive players, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Alex Highsmith, were there to witness the woman, named Meg, dominate on the court. Highsmith was even her partner for a game.

"Meg was serving the HEAT," Watt said on Twitter. "We had trouble all day."

Pickleball is a sport where people use small paddles to hit a wiffle ball back and forth over a net. It is played in singles or doubles on a badminton-size court.

Twitter user Nat (@ravioli_wizard), Meg's daughter, shared a screenshot of her mom's message to the family group chat. Meg also shared a photo of her standing with the players.

"So I rolled up to north park tonight to jump in a pick up pickleball game," Meg wrote. "Started playing with these guys. Had no idea who they were. Last game the guy in the green shirt and I whooped the other two. Then everyone else there wanted to take our photo..."

"The guy in the green shirt" was Highsmith.

Twitter users loved Nat's post. User MysticSasquatch asked where Meg's "30 for 30" documentary is. Another user, COYSonny, said their kids thought Meg "was TJs mom. They said she was GOOD."

User Gio'Vanni said Meg and Highsmith would be the "best safety duo in the league."

Watt won the AP Defensive Player of the Year earlier this year. His 22.5 sacks tied Michael Strahan's NFL record for most in a season.

There are no stats yet available for weekend pickleball games in North Park.
