Moraine State Park to Highlight Butler County’s Winter Activities with Annual Winterfest Event

The Seventh Annual Winterfest is on Saturday, February 4th, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The seventh annual Winterfest at Moraine State Park will be held on Saturday, February 4th from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Visitors of all ages can enjoy winter-themed festivities such as a chili cook-off, horse-drawn wagon rides, snowshoeing, ice and chainsaw carvings, cross-country skiing, live music and a bonfire. Iceburgh, the Pittsburgh Penguins mascot will also be making a special appearance. Each year, Winterfest is hosted by the Moraine Preservation Fund (MPF) and draws thousands of visitors to Moraine State Park. This year all events will be held on the South Shore of Moraine State Park, rather than the North Shore

This year Winterfest has teamed up with Lawrence County Habitat for Humanity Douse for a House. During Winterfest, participants will be taking a chilling plunge into Lake Arthur to raise money and awareness for the organization. Registration for the plunge will begin at 11:00 a.m. and awards will be given for the top individual and top team fundraisers.

“Moraine is an absolutely beautiful place with year round activities for people of all ages,” said Jack Cohen, President of Moraine Preservation Fund. “Winterfest gives everyone the opportunity to get outside, enjoy the winter weather and experience everything that Moraine has to offer beyond the warm weather months.”
