National Retailer With Cranberry Location Declares Bankruptcy

A well-known retailer in the Cranberry area has filed for bankruptcy.

PITTSBURGH, PA —The future of a national retailer with multiple Pittsburgh locations is cloudy after it declared bankruptcy and announced a number of store will close.

The Columbus-based American Signature Inc., which operates the Value City Furniture and American Signature Furniture chains, will shutter more than two dozen stores across the country. The company currently has about 120 stores in 17 states and employs about 3,000 people.

The company told USA Today: “We are grateful to our employees and customers for their continued support and remain dedicated to offering the exceptional style, value, and service that shoppers have come to know and trust.”

According to its website, Value City currently has five stores in Pennsylvania.

The company announced the closure of its store on Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg.

For now, the chain's Pittsburgh-area locations are expected to remain open. They are located in:

  • Monroeville, 3801 William Penn Highway.
  • Pleasant Hills, 451 Clairton Boulevard.
  • Robinson, 1400 Park Manor Boulevard.
  • Cranberry, Route 19.
