PA Turnpike Crash Triggers 65-Mile Detour

Western Pennsylvania turnpike travelers face a lengthy detour after an early-morning crash Thursday.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — A crash has closed the westbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike between Cranberry Exit 28 in Butler County and Beaver Valley Exit 13 in Beaver County. A 65-mile detour is recommended by the turnpike commission.

The suggested alternate route from Cranberry:

  • Take I-79 northbound for 40 miles.
  • Take U.S. 422 westbound for 14.6 miles.
  • Take I-376 eastbound for 10 miles.

Re-enter the turnpike at the New Castle exit.
