Pennsylvania's Longest Disc Golf Course Set To Open
More than a year after construction began, the disc golf course in the Pittsburgh suburb of Cranberry is ready for play.
CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - One of the world's longest disc golf courses is ready to open in southwestern Pennsylvania. Cranberry officials on June 15 will dedicate the golf course, which will include elevation changes, tight fairways and many trees players will have to navigate around.
At more than 10,700 feet, the disc golf course will be the largest in the state and one of the 10 longest among the 7,400 disc golf course in the world, according to the Cranberry Township Community Chest, which conceived the project.
Much like a conventional golf course, each hole in the course will have three different concrete tee pads to allow play for those at every skill level, including the long-throw championship level. Although the course will be nationally sanctioned for a rotation of tournaments, officials envision making it a premier course hosting a yearly multi-day tournament that attracts the game's
best players.
