Keystone Oaks Teachers End Strike, Resume Instruction

Educators in the district have concluded their work stoppage.

DORMONT, PA — Virtual instruction resumed Wednesday in the Keystone Oaks School District after teachers ended a strike that began on Feb. 1. Teachers were limited by state law as to how long the strike could last.

According to district officials, the next contract negotiation session between school directors and the Keystone Oaks Education Association is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. A mediator will be present.

The teachers' contract expired in June.

The work stoppage has prompted the following calendar changes for the rest of the school year:

  • Feb. 15 is now a day of in-person instruction for Cohort Golden (Last Names A-L) students.
  • April 1 is now a full day of instruction for students.
  • April 2 is now a day of instruction and an early dismissal for students.
  • April 5 is now a full day of instruction for students.
  • June 15 is the last day of school for students.
  • Commencement for the Class of 2021 will be held on June 15.
