3rd Ward Doylestown Borough Councilman Stepping Down
The borough council voted on Monday night to accept Joe Frederick's resignation effective January 30.

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA —Doylestown Borough Councilman Joe Frederick, who has represented the residents of the third ward for close to eight years, is stepping down from council.
The council voted on Monday night to accept Frederick’s resignation effective January 30 and to post an advertisement seeking his replacement.
“It has been an honor to serve the borough. I’ve had a great time,” said Frederick. “We worked together on a lot of issues,” he added, counting the new borough hall and the Broad Common Park redevelopment projects among the “defining moments” of his tenure on council.

“Along with that we have a state-of-the-art police complex and police force, which is a complement to Police Chief Karl Knott who has done a yeoman’s job” with the Central Bucks Regional Police Department, which protects and serves the three boroughs of Doylestown, Chalfont and New Britain.
“The chief had some tough times but he got through it, getting the police department in shape and earning a lot of accreditations. It’s all because of the chief who I would like to thank personally.

“It’s been an honor working here with council in getting things done,” Frederick continued. “But you have to know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em. It’s time to go.”

He has been serving as an alternate on the Central Bucks Regional Police Commission and is the chair of the borough’s public safety committee. He is also an avid fisherman and hunter.
“I wanted to acknowledge and thank Joe who has been a real mentor,” said Councilman Ben Bell.
Borough manager John Davis also publicly thanked Frederick “for being incredibly supportive of everyone who works here. He kept us on our toes. He was a good listener and was always willing to hear what we had to say. He brought us insights that helped us do our jobs a little better. I know Joe had a lot of fun doing this. And we had a lot of fun working with Joe. And we’re going to miss him.”
The borough will be accepting applications to fill the vacancy in the borough’s third ward for a term ending on Dec. 31, 2025.
