'Be Kind 5K' Steps Off In Buckingham For Kin Wellness

Bucks County cancer community to benefit from community fundraiser at Holicong Park.

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — For the third year, the Be Kind 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will step off this spring in support of Bucks County cancer patients.

This year’s race - part of the Bucks 5K Series - hits the pavement on Saturday, April 5 at Holicong Park and will follow a new route that will begin at the park, head down Holicong Road to Upper Mountain Road, turn around and return to the middle of the park.

The event welcomes and encourages people of all levels and abilities to participate and to run or walk to honor, celebrate, and inspire those who have battled, or are battling, cancer.

Last year nearly 600 participated, raising more than $30,000 for the Kin Wellness and Support Center in Buckingham, which provides free services and support to cancer patients and their caregivers. This year the organizers expect even more people to participate.

The 1 mile Be Kind Fun Run begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Be Kind 5K at 10 a.m.

“Kin joined the 5K Series with the Be Kind Event to promote wellness and community camaraderie while helping the local Bucks County cancer community," said Keith Fenimore, executive director of Kin. "100 percentof the sponsorships and registration fees for the event will benefit Kin Wellness and Support Center. We are honored to be able to provide our community with this special event again this year!”

This year's official race ambassador is local survivor and thriver, Chris Baccash. Chris is a Doylestown resident and a member of the acclaimed Bikeworks Team. Chris will be given the honor of launching the 1-Mile Fun Run, serving as the pace bike for the 5K and handing out awards to the winners.

"We are honored to have Chris affiliated with our race. Chris is a beacon of positivity and encapsulates the persona we are striving for at our Be Kind event," said Fenimore.

"Watching the race grow over the last three years has been incredible, as more people come out to support Kin and their work," said Nick Kornea, CEO/President of LBK Design Build, this year's title sponsor. "It's been a privilege to not only be a part of the event, but also to be able to help support the work that Kin does for those within our community by providing comfort and care in a time of need."

Throughout the event, participants can expect entertainment, free bagels, water, smoothies, cookies and bananas.
