POINT PLEASANT, PA — Bucks County’s biggest indoor winter cycling event returns to Dharma Bums in Point Pleasant later this month with an evening of fun, music, and high-energy competition.

This year's Goldsprints Indoor Roller-Racing Championship presented by Bike Works of Doylestown and Newtown is scheduled for Feb. 22 to raise funds for Bike Works p/b Fred Beans Cycling Team.

“Goldsprints” are head-to-head, 300-meter races on stationary bikes that lend themselves to wearing costumes, shouting encouragement to the racers and heckling, and participatory fun with little to no cycling experience needed.

Pro racers do “Boldsprints” adding a degree of danger and derring-do by removing the stationary aspect and instead riding on rollers mere inches from one another. In 2024, elite track racer Brad Green (Schwenksville) defeated Andrew Dudle (Emmaus) in the Boldsprints final.

Bike Works p/b Fred Beans is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support competitive cycling in the community. Since 2017 they have challenged local athletes to compete against the best regional, national, and international cycling competitions on the road, track, gravel, and mountain bike.

“In Bucks County during the winter, Goldsprints is the only event that truly feels like a bike race. Everyone gathers in [the venue], exchanges pleasantries (usually something about how cold it is) then the rest of the night is a blur between screaming for your friends competing and socializing with your ‘summer friends,’” said champion rider Chris Meacham.

This year’s event also features music by DJ Shael Fisher and The Pleeps, featuring Bike Works team mechanic Dan Turner on drums. To learn more about the event and to purchase tickets visit bikeworks.shop/goldsprints/. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
