BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — It's a fitting crime for a true Christmas Grinch: Stealing a Baby Jesus statue from a local church's Christmas Nativity scene.

Buckingham Township police are asking for the public's help in tracking down the culprit who they say removed the statue from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church sometime between December 23 and Christmas Day.

Detectives have few leads to go on. A dark-colored was seen entering the church lot off of Route 413 at around 10:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, though it's not clear if the vehicle was involved, police said.

Vandalism is not a new problem for the church. In November 2018, someone spray painted the word "pedophiles" on the church's sign, and in Octocber 2019, its pro-life display was damaged on three separate occasions.

Anyone who believes they may have information relevant to the case can call the Buckingham Township Police Department at 215-794-8812.
