BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Buckingham Township welcomed three new officers to the force and celebrated the promotion of a fourth during the December meeting of the Board of Supervisors.

Officers Emma Reese, Courtney Truppay and Mohammed Elsayed were sworn in by District Judge Maggie Snow as the township's newest officers following an extensive hiring process that began earlier this year.

"This is an exciting night for the Buckingham Township Police Department. We're adding three new members to our team. We're very excited about that," said Chief David Scirrotto.

The department launched its search earlier this year, receiving more than 30 resumes for the three openings. They then narrowed the pool down to 17, with the top three receiving job offers.

"All three of them performed very well in our process. They were clearly the top three applicants and we're excited to offer them the opportunity to work for us," said Chief Scirrotto.

Officer Reese grew up in Buckingham and attended Linden Elementary School and Holicong Middle School before moving to Doylestown. She graduated from the Allentown Police Academy on Dec. 12 and was awarded the Tracy Szoke Memorial 110 percent effort award.

Officer Truppay grew up in Horsham and joined the Tullytown Borough Police Department after graduating from the Temple University Police Academy. She later joined the Pennridge Regional Police Department where she served with distinction. She was awarded a commendation for her work assisting the Bucks County Detectives with a narcotics investigation that resulted in a death investigation and prosecution.

Officer Elsayed is a graduate of New Hope-Solebury High School. After attending culinary school, he changed career paths and put himself through the Temple University Police Academy. He later joined the Tullytown Borough Police Department. He is joining Buckingham from the Bristol Borough Police Department where he was recognized for being a top performing patrol officer and was assigned as a School Resource Officer.

In addition to welcoming the new officers, Chief Scirrotto announced the promotion of Sergeant Hazelett to the rank of lieutenant.

"This well-deserved recognition is a testament to his hard work, leadership skills, and unwavering dedication to the department and the community," said the chief.

Lieutenant Hazelett joined Buckingham in 2017. He was promoted to corporal in 2019 and in 2022 to the rank of sergeant. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Leadership Development Program and Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.

"We are confident that these new officers and Lt. Hazelett's promotion will enhance our ability to provide exceptional service to the residents of Buckingham Township," said Chief Scirrotto.
