Bucks Co. Detective Mike Walp Hangs Up Badge After 47 Years
Bucks County Detective Mike Walp, known by his peers as "Walpy", is retiring after a 47-year career in law enforcement.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — On Friday, Bucks County Detective Mike Walp hung up his badge, ending a 47-year career in law enforcement.
The Army veteran known by his peers as "Walpy" began his career with the Warminster Township Police Department, where he worked as a K-9 officer and was later promoted to sergeant. After leaving Warminster, he came to work for the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, where he worked as a county detective for 18 years.
Walp was part of several high profile investigations, including the murders of Grace Packer and Adam Brundage, as well as the killing rampage by Cosmo DiNardo and Sean Kratz. He was also part of the recent homicide investigation into the killing of Jason Kutt, the 18-year-old Sellersville teen who was shot and killed by hunter Kenneth Heller in Nockamixon State Park.

District Attorney Matt Weintraub said he had the privilege to work with Detective Walp on all of these cases.
"I was always impressed with his steady, cool demeanor, and willingness to work hard for the victims in his cases until the offenders were made to answer for their crimes," Weintraub said. "His professionalism never waivered no matter how heinous the crime, and even if it took decades to solve in some cases."
At noon Friday, following a retirement sendoff, Bucks County Dispatchers radioed a last call for Detective Walp, thanking him for his nearly half-century of service to the citizens of Bucks County.
