Bucks Co. Issues 'Code Blue' Declaration Ahead Of Cold Snap

Bucks County has issued a "Code Blue" declaration to be in effect Thursday evening through the weekend.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks County has issued a "Code Blue" declaration from Thursday evening through Sunday morning.

The declaration, made in conjunction with the county Departments of Health and Emergency Management, is effective from 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, to 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16.

During the Code Blue period, overnight shelters will be open in Lower, Central and Upper Bucks County for those in need of cold-weather housing.

Temperatures across Eastern Pennsylvania will nose dive Friday, dropping as much as 40 degrees from Thursday daytime to Friday night. With lows in the teens expected overnight Friday to Saturday, the upcoming blast could bring coldest air the region has experienced so far this season, AccuWeather predicts.

The available shelters for this Code Blue are:

Lower Bucks: Calvary Baptist Church, 250 Green Lane, Bristol

Central Bucks: Doylestown Presbyterian Church, 127 East Court Street, Doylestown

Upper Bucks: Quakertown Masonic Lodge, 501 West Broad Street, Quakertown
