Central Bucks Responds After Gov. Closes Schools For Year
"While we have been preparing for this potential outcome for several weeks now, this news is difficult to hear," the superintendent said.
DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks School District has responded to the developments that all Pennsylvania schools will remain closed through the duration of the academic year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Gov. Tom Wolf extended his order Thursday, mandating all schools remain closed through the year and until the pandemic threat has ceased.
"While we have been preparing for this potential outcome for several weeks now, this news is difficult to hear," Central Bucks Superintendent John Kopicki said in a letter to the school community.

Kopicki said the district's distance learning plan is designed to enable teaching and learning through June 12. "Our teachers are prepared and committed to provide the best instruction possible as they implement our distance learning plan, and we will continue to support our families in every way we can during the challenging weeks and months ahead," he said.
He said the district is now focusing on long-term planning, including considerations for graduation and continued learning.

"This is important work, and while we understand that our families are anxious for answers now – it is vital that we take time to give decisions that will make a significant impact on our students all necessary consideration," Kopicki wrote.
Schools have been closed since March 13. Gov. Wolf extended the closures twice before making Thursday's announcement that students would not resume in-person learning this yea.r
Under the state's directive, schools could begin summer programming on the day after their academic year ends. All re-openings will be contingent on public health guidance provided by the Secretary of Health and stay-at-home orders issued by the governor.
