Central Bucks Safety Plan For Reopening On Tuesday Agenda

The Central Bucks School Board is expected to consider approving a health and safety plan for reopening on Tuesday.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks School Board is expected consider the approval of its health and safety plan — required to reopen schools amid the pandemic — during a special meeting Tuesday, July 21 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be conducted virtually.

On Friday, the district announced it was adjusting its planned offerings for the fall. Two options will now be available for students: hybrid or online only.

The district had initially intended to offer a full in-person learning option, but new guidelinesfrom the state Department of Education released last week will prevent that plan from being feasible, officials said.

"While our planning teams were working to finalize plans to offer families a traditional option that would have students in school five days per week, revised recommendations and procedures were released from the governor and the Pennsylvania Department of Education," Superintendent John Kopicki said.

"As a result, it became clear to our leadership that given the space limitations within our 23 schools, it would be impossible to offer a traditional option and meet the social distancing requirements included in the orders."

The hybrid option will provide in-person instruction two days per week, and a combination of live and online instruction during the other three days. The cyber option will be completely online.

Students with Individualized Education Plans will have the option to attend in-person four or five days.

More specifics on the options and the safety plan are forthcoming.
