Construction To Close Limekiln Road Bridge For 3 Months

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Construction to rehabilitate the bridge carrying Limekiln Road over Cooks Run in Doylestown Township will begin Oct. 28.

As a result, Limekiln Road will be closed and detoured between Cooks Run Road and Shady Retreat Road during the length of the rehabilitation project. The closure is expected to continue through mid-January.

Limekiln Road motorists will be directed to use Pine Run Road, Old Dublin Pike, Main Street, State Street and West Street. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Built in 1938, and reconstructed in 1980, the one-span bridge is 16 feet long and 27 feet wide. The bridge carries an average of 5,951 vehicles a day, according to PennDOT.

The project is part of PennDOT’s $7.8 million effort to rehabilitate seven poor-condition bridges in Bucks and Montgomery counties, three structurally-deficient culverts in Bucks County, and to stabilize a stream embankment at a bridge in Bucks County.

The contractor is Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson.
