County Theater To Remain Closed Through 2020
The theater, already closed due to coronavirus, will be able to finish its major renovation project early.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The County Theater, which is undergoing a major renovation project, will remain closed for the rest of 2020. The closure will allow the theater, which is currently shut due to coronavirus, to finish its major renovation project early.
The local theater made the announcement this week, saying the "current crisis has caused us to rethink our reopening plans and how best to proceed with our construction work. We face a new reality and that has led us to a pivotal decision."
The theater will finish the entire expansion project in 2020, which is five months ahead of schedule. The expansion project will include a new auditorium, lobby, and first-floor restrooms. Work on the project began in January.

The theater has been closed since mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is not clear when movie theaters in Bucks County will be permitted to reopen under the governor's reopening plan.
"Our board of directors has reviewed the situation in great detail and concluded that it makes sense to complete all our construction work in 2020, including renovations to the historic theater, rather than have it stretch on through May of 2021. We’ll reopen as a completed theater with all three screens at the end of 2020, five months ahead of schedule," the announcement said.
