The Doylestown Borough Memorial Day Parade will not happen in 2020.
DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Doylestown Borough Memorial Day Parade will not happen in 2020.
Borough officials announced Thursday that the parade — America's oldest Memorial Day parade — has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"Given the importance of the parade to the community, it is not a decision we take lightly, but with the strong conviction that it is the best interests of the health and welfare of participants and spectators alike," the borough announced.

Despite the cancelation of the parade, borough officials said they are planning a way to honor veterans in a method that is not a health risk.
"In the coming weeks, we will be working to organize Memorial Day activities that fulfill this purpose while maintaining critical social distancing and thereby protecting the health of the community. Parade or no parade, Doylestown will honor its fallen heroes in 2020," the borough said.
