Doylestown Dad Passes On Wisdom With 'Thoughts Of The Day'

DOYLESTOWN, PA— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Doylestown, meet Edward Meehan.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting a smile on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Gabriella Warner who nominated Edward Meehan of Doylestown.

What makes your dad extra special?

Ed, better known as Poppop, is extra special to us in many ways, but one unique way is his "TODs" or Thoughts of the Day. Almost every day, if not every day, Poppop sends us texts including quotes of advice. This habit began when Poppop helped with packing his granddaughter Gabi's lunches in elementary school. He would write a thoughtful quote on a napkin which he included in the lunch bag. Later he adapted this practice to text messages to share with the rest of his children and grandchildren. This tradition of his is a way that he shares his wisdom with his loved ones and we all greatly appreciate it.

Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?

He's a great role model. He demonstrates his gratitude and his love for his grandchildren and others in a multitude of ways. His unselfishness is evident in the way he cares for our grandmother, his wife of 63 years, who was diagnosed with dementia a few years ago.
