Doylestown Pride Festival Canceled Due To Coronavirus
"We made this decision with the safety of our LGBTQ+ community, volunteers, sponsors, and neighbors in mind," event organizers said.
DOYLESTOWN, PA—Organizers recently announced plans to cancel this year's Doylestown Pride Festival due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"We made this decision with the safety of our LGBTQ+ community, volunteers, sponsors, and neighbors in mind," event organizers said in a statement on their official Facebook page. "We are truly saddened and hoped that by postponing to the fall we would be able to gather safely. Unfortunately, 2020 had a different plan for us all."
This would have been the second year for the festival, which aims to celebrate diverse sexual orientations and gender identities in the Doylestown community. Last year's festival featured a variety of events, including film screenings, a block party, music, a drink contest and more.

While the festival won't happen this year, organizers said they are planning to bring the festival back June 17-20, 2021. They said the festival's committee is also hard at work planning virtual pride events. Organizers hope to also plan a smaller socially distant evening together soon.
"While we may not be having a big party on State Street this year, we're looking ahead to a safe and healthy 2021 Doylestown Pride Festival!" organizers said. "We'll be updating our website and sending out information on how to get involved for next year in the coming weeks. We'll celebrate together again soon!"
