DOYLESTOWN, PA — A proposal to bring a village green to the parking spaces in front of Starbucks is under consideration, officials say.

Borough officials, in a segment on FOX29, confirmed the business has been approached to see if it would consider allowing a village green park to be built on the seven parking spaces in front of the shop, located at State and Main street.

"It is private property, and it's very valuable private property," Borough Manager John Davis said in an on-air interview with the network. "In a community like Doylestown, parking spaces in particular are very valuable."

Starbucks is reportedly mulling over the proposal and is expected to issue a statement next week. If they agree to giving up the parking spaces, the proposal for a park would then go before Borough Council.

The owner of the building that houses Starbucks told The Intelligencer he is planning to give it a "facelift" in the spring. He said the seven spots out front that Starbucks leases would be swapped for those on the side of the building.
