DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The Doylestown Borough Environmental Advisory Council is encouraging property owners to join "Lights Out Doylestown" by turning off or reducing outdoor lighting from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. between now and May 31.

"Many birds migrate at night, using natural light to navigate. Artificial lights can disorient them, leading to exhaustion or even fatal window collisions," says the EAC. "By dimming our lights, we can help them reach their destinations safely."

Doylestown Borough and Doylestown Township joined the "Lights Out" campaign last year.

As part of the regional effort, many of Philadelphia's larger buildings and venues will be reducing their lighting footprint during the migratory season through the efforts of Bird Safe Philly. Among the notable buildings that will be taking part are the Wells Fargo Center, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Ten Penn Center, Ursinus College, Old City 108, 1900 Market Street, Three Logan Square, Two Logan Square, 1900 Market Street, One South Broad, among others.
