Dr. Werner K. Margenau, 83, Was A Longtime Doylestown Veterinarian
Werner owned and operated Pheasant Run Animal Hospital in Doylestown for many years and was well-loved at both ends of the leash.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Werner K. Margenau, V.M.D., who owned and operated the Pheasant Run Animal Hospital for many years in Doylestown, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024. He was 83 years old and a loving husband for 58 years of Joyce Margenau.
Born in Springfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Margenau. Werner was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, West Haven, Conn., Class of 1958. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut in 1961 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1966.
Dr. Margenau was an Air Force Captain having served as a veterinarian at Wurtsmith AFB Michigan. Later, he worked with the International Research and Development Corp. in Michigan.

From 1970 to 1972 Dr. Margenau worked at the Delaware Valley Animal Hospital. In 1972, he opened and operated his own practice, Pheasant Run Animal Hospital in Doylestown, until his retirement in 2009.
Werner was a well-respected member of the community, providing care to many pets and developing close relationships with the owners. He was well-loved by both ends of the leash! Dr. Margenau's practice was honored by being voted Best of BuxMont.

Werner was a loving husband, dad, and grandfather. He always put his family first. He enjoyed providing for his family, traveling, boating, and had a great sense of humor. He also enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their lake home, teaching water sports to anyone who asked.
He was a former member of the AVMA, the Lions Club, and the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his wife Joyce, Werner is survived by Heather Margenau of Doylestown; Cheryl Vander Leest and her husband, Joel of Colorado; grandchildren Bailey, Dane, and Anna; great-granddaughter, Oaklynn; many nieces and nephews; as well as Piper, his favorite four-legged family member. He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Margenau.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Internment will be at 11 a.m. on January 3, 2025 at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown. (Please be at the cemetery no later than 10:45 a.m.)
