Excessive Heat Warning In PA, Could Feel As Hot As 110 Thursday

Forecasters are predicting "dangerously hot conditions," with heat index values around 105 on Wednesday and 110 on Thursday.

EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — An “excessive” heat wave is set to hit southeastern Pennsylvania starting Wednesday, with heat index values expected to reach triple digits across much of the region, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued an excessive heat warning that runs from noon Wednesday through 8 p.m. Thursday. Forecasters are predicting “dangerously hot conditions,” with heat index values around 105 on Wednesday and 110 on Thursday.

Extreme heat and humidity will “significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities,” the NWS said in its warning.

Thursday will have the “most oppressive” heat and humidity, according to forecasters. Though the excessive heat warning expires Thursday night, hot and humid conditions are expected to continue in southeastern Pennsylvania through Friday.

Residents in the region should expect “little relief” from the hot and humid weather at night, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service is recommending people stay inside, drink plenty of fluids and check on relatives and neighbors amid the heat wave. Young children and pets should not be left in vehicles under any circumstances.
