DOYLESTOWN, PA – The Harlequin Club, Central Bucks West’s Performing Arts Club, is bringing Shakespeare’s dark classic, "Macbeth," to the stage just in time for Halloween.

Set in 11th-century Scotland, "Macbeth" follows a power-hungry couple whose ruthless pursuit of the crown leads to betrayal, bloodshed, and their ultimate downfall. The Harlequins’ production marks the first time in decades that this timeless tale of unchecked ambition and its haunting consequences will be performed on a Central Bucks High School stage.

“At its heart, Macbeth is a cautionary tale about ambition without limits. In today’s world, it remains strikingly relevant, reminding us how the pursuit of power at any cost can unravel individuals, relationships, and even nations. It’s a lesson our students and audiences alike can reflect on long after the curtain falls,” said Claudine Piechotta, Director/Producer of the Harlequin Club. “Taking on Macbeth is no small task for high school actors. The language and themes are demanding, but that’s exactly what makes Shakespeare such a powerful learning experience. Our students are stretching
themselves as performers while also deepening their understanding of literature, history, and human nature.”

The Harlequin Club’s Macbeth promises to thrill, with bold sound design, dramatic lighting, and striking special effects that amplify the suspense while honoring the play’s traditional setting. The script has been carefully adapted for pace, preserving Shakespeare’s plot while sharpening the action.

"After completing intensive stage combat workshops, the cast is ready to unleash witches, warriors, and schemers in a performance that’s as eerie as it is unforgettable," said Piechotta.
