DOYLESTOWN, PA — Do you have what it takes to be a town crier?
The Doylestown Historical Society (DHS) is offering a unique opportunity for community members to step back in time and play a vital role in the upcoming "Doylestown Celebrates USA 250" festivities in 2026.
The society is holding open auditions for enthusiastic individuals to serve as official Town Criers, helping to spread news and announcements throughout Doylestown in a truly historical fashion.

Auditions are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m. and will take place in the DHS Park, located at 56 S. Main Street. Attendees at the auditions will not only have the chance to try out for the role but will gain fascinating insights into Doylestown's past.
A special presentation will highlight the life and times of Sammy Price, Doylestown's beloved Town Crier from the 1800s. Learning about Sammy's legacy will undoubtedly inspire those hoping to follow in his footsteps, said society members.

DHS would also invite family and friends of those auditioning to attend.
The initiative is a cornerstone of the comprehensive planning for "Doylestown Celebrates USA 250," a landmark commemoration that will honor the 250th anniversary of the United States throughout 2026. The Town Criers will be instrumental in bringing a vibrant, historical flair to the celebrations, engaging residents and visitors alike with their traditional calls and announcements.
