Man Charged With Attempted Theft, Store Employee Faces Fraud Charges: Warrington Crime Report

Police investigation leads to arrest of 66-year-old man on felony retail theft charges.

WARRINGTON, PA — A 33-year-old Philadelphia man faces felony retail theft charges for stealing merchandise from a township store.

On May 22, police were dispatched to Walmart for a reported retail theft.

Upon arrival, loss prevention personnel reported that two men had filled two shopping carts with merchandise valued at $2,200 and attempted to leave the store without paying.

When confronted by staff, the suspects abandoned the carts and fled the scene. A Warrington Police Officer identified one of the suspects as 33-year-old Vakhtang Shushanidze from Philadelphia.

Shushanidze turned himself in on June 30. He was processed and arraigned by Judge Wertman, who set bail at $300,000 or 10 percent cash.

Shushanidze was unable to post bail and was subsequently transported to the Bucks County Correctional Facility. He is charged with two counts of felony retail theft and two counts of receiving stolen property.

Employee Fraud Arrest

  • On June 24, police responded to BJ’s Wholesale Club for a report of employee fraud. Loss prevention identified a 66-year-old woman from Horsham as the suspect. The woman used a store-issued tablet to submit approximately 200 fraudulent credit card applications, receiving $3 per application for a total of $600 since March. She was arrested, transported to the station, processed, and released. She was placed under arrest, transported to the station, processed, and released. She is charged with theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking and identity theft.

Theft Of Tools

  • On June 5, Police responded to Lowes for the report of a retail theft. Upon arrival loss prevention related that on May 13 a man entered the store and selected three craftsman tools valued at $637. The man proceeded to the entrance where he physically opened the doors and exited the store while failing to pay for the tools. Officers reached out to other police departments to attempt to identify the actor. Bensalem Police reached out and related that 66-year-old Harvey Jay Blake from Philadelphia was the actor. Blake was arrested on other charges and was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility. Blake was arraigned by Judge Wertman and remanded back to Bucks County Correctional. He was charged with felony retail theft and receiving stolen merchandise.
