Man Fired Long Gun From Window In Doylestown Standoff: Police

Police said Christopher Dalrymple, 21, fired a long gun out his second-floor window in Thursday's standoff, hitting a car and house.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Police have identified the 21-year-old man who is facing multiple charges in connection with a shooting and standoff in Doylestown on Thursday. Authorities announced Friday that Christopher Dalrymple is facing charges of illegally discharging a firearm, as well as reckless endangerment following the two-hour standoff in the Belmont Square area of Doylestown Borough.

Dalrymple fired shots inside his home and was then seen pointing a long gun out of the window, police said. "Numerous" shots were fired, some hitting a Warrington Township police vehicle and a neighboring home.

No injuries were reported.

Officers with the Central Bucks Regional Police Department were called to the 50 block of Belmont Square at 3:40 p.m. for a report of shots fired from a neighbor’s home.

When police arrived, officers reported hearing additional gunshots from within a residence.

Additional departments responded, and Dalrymple was seen pointing a long gun out of the second-floor window of the home, according to Central Bucks Regional Police.

Residents in the area of Belmont Square, as well as on Court and East streets, were told to shelter-in-place. At nearby Linden Elementary, students in the after-school program remained with staff and the principal during the shelter-in-place.

The standoff ended just after 5:30 p.m., when Dalrymple surrendered. He remains in police custody.
