Memorial 5K, Casino Night for Kids Castle This Weekend

EVERYBODY LOVES OPAL

Where/when: Town and Country Players, 4158 York Rd., Buckingham, May 10-11 at 8 p.m.

What: Opal Kronkie, a middle-aged recluse, lives in general disarray in her tumbledown mansion at the edge of the municipal dump. Opal collects things-anything that can be toted home in her little red wagon. Opal is also an optimist, for no matter how mean her lot-or her "friends" – she responds with unfailing kindness and an abiding faith in the goodness of human nature. Into her rather strange world come Gloria, Bradford and Solomon, three purveyors of bogus perfume, on the lam from the authorities. Opal's home is the perfect hideout-and Opal, herself, might be the remedy for their shattered finances. 

Cost: $15.

Where/when: , Doylestown, Fri.-Sun. all day.

What: Experience the war through the eyes of local citizens and soldiers, and through the images, artifacts and stories they left behind. 

Cost: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $6 for youths.

COLBY UMBRELL MEMORIAL WALK & 5K

Where/when: Central Park, 425 Wells Rd., Doylestown Township, Sat. 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

What: This event benefits the Colby Umbrell Memorial Fund, which supports local student scholarships and other charities including the Central Bucks Special Olympics Swim Program, Doylestown American Legion/VFW, American Cancer Society and many other causes.

DOYLESTOWN DOG PARK SPRING CELEBRATION

Where/when: 1260 Almshouse Rd., Doylestown, Sat. from noon to 4 p.m.

What: This a chance to learn more about the dog park and talk to other members. There will be free hotdogs, a chance to speak with dog training experts, great raffle prizes, and a special offer for getting your dog microchipped.

ROLL THE DICE FOR THE CASTLE CASINO NIGHT

Where/when: Keenan Motors, 4311 W. Swamp Rd., Doylestown, Sat. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

What: The ravages of time and weather have worn this magnificent play structure, and despite meticulous maintenance by the Doylestown Township staff, significant repairs are needed. Proceeds will go towards the $150,000 fundraising goal to save Kids Castle!
