BUCKS COUNTY, PA — There have been multiple reports of counterfeit money circulating in Bucks County recently, according to authorities.

Newtown Township Police reported at least two incidents. According to police, just before 7 p.m. on Jan. 25, two men used a $100 bill to make a purchase at McCaffrey's on Eagle Road in Newtown. The bill was later found to be counterfeit, police said.

Another Newtown retailer also reported that the same men had attempted to use a counterfeit bill there that day but was stopped by store employees.

Newtown Township Police have released surveillance images of the suspects.

In Lower Makefield, there have been at least two incidents involving counterfeit money.

A group of men at Giant Food Store on Stony Hill Road made two attempts at using counterfeit bills on Jan. 27.

According to police, around 11 a.m. that day, a group of four men entered the store and split up. Two of them went one register and purchased $7.95 worth of items with a counterfeit $100 bill. The other two males attempted a similar purchase at a different register, but the clerk identified the bill at counterfeit.

The four men then fled. The investigation is ongoing, Lower Makefield Police said.

The day before, at Venezia Pizza on Stony Hill Road, three men purchased $7.95 worth of merchandise with a counterfeit $100 bill, Lower Makefield Township Police said.
