Newtown Chamber Orchestra Will 'Move Your Spirit'

Premier one-night performance of this labor of love will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 1 at Pennsbury High School West.

Newtown Chamber Orchestra will present the world premiere performance of “Missa De Profunctis, a requiem," directed by Russell Hoffmann, NCO's music director and conductor.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. June 1 in Keller Hall on the campus of Pennsbury High School West.

The piece and the venue hold special significance because Composer Samuel Bellardo grew up in the Bucks County area and attended school in the Pennsbury School District, according to the Newtown Chamber Orchestra website.

Bellardo graduated from the Julliard School of Music, Columbia University, and then taught at Kutztown University and Bucks County Community College. His death in 2007 occurred prior to publication of his "Missa de Profunctis Requiem," which he had composed in loving memory of his great-nephew Joseph L. Bellardo III.
