DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Five local police officers were commended Thursday for their bravery and performance during a shooting and standoff that prompted a shelter in place in Doylestown Borough on Nov. 7.

During the Central Bucks Regional Police Commission meeting, bravery commendations were awarded to the officers for their "exemplary service, bravery and performance of an outstanding arrest."

The following officers received the bravery commendations:

  • Corporal Mark Bolender, Officer Josh Albillar and Officer Mike Frugoli of the Central Bucks Regional Police Department
  • Sergeant Robert Jones of Doylestown Township Police Department
  • Sergeant William Moffett of Buckingham Township Police Department

"All personnel involved in this incident worked quickly and flawlessly to bring this incident to a peaceful resolution and prevented injury and loss of life. The response to this incident is representative of the highest level of professionalism and efficiency in law enforcement," Chief Karl Knott said.

Christopher Dalrymple, 21, is facing charges of illegally discharging a firearm, as well as reckless endangerment following the two-hour standoff in the Belmont Square area of the borough.

During the incident, Dalrymple fired shots inside his home and was then seen pointing a long gun out of the window, police said. "Numerous" shots were fired, some hitting a Warrington Township police vehicle and a neighboring home.

No one was injured.

Officers with the Central Bucks Regional Police Department were called to the 50 block of Belmont Square at 3:40 p.m. for a report of shots fired from a neighbor's home. When police arrived, officers reported hearing additional gunshots from within a residence.

Residents in the area of Belmont Square, as well as on Court and East streets, were told to shelter-in-place. The standoff ended two hours later, when Dalrymple surrendered.
