The winning five ice cream creations will be featured on Owowcow's ice cream menu during May at its store locations. Some past favorites have included Barrel of Monkeys, Tiger's Eye, Candyland and Gorilla Glue.
"We also were able to make a flavor for a local girl to support her mom fighting cancer. That was special for everyone involved," said Owowcow's managing director Shira Tizer Wade.
Every year, the kids surprise the ice cream maker with their creativity. "And the flavors turn out amazing," said Wade. "The kids are so incredibly creative. It's always super hard to choose winners!"
Winners will be treated to a number of prizes, including a limited edition t-shirt, a fancy trophy, and a free ice cream sampling with friends and family. In addition to fun prizes, Owowcow will donate a portion of May sales to a nonprofit of the winner's choosing.
"This is such a great way for kids to express their creativity," said Wade. "They get to imagine and create their very own dream flavor of ice cream and then name and draw it. And if they win, we will make their dream ice cream and serve it in all of our shops all May long!"
Since 2009 the local creamery has been hand-crafting super-premium ice cream from scratch using local organic and natural ingredients that support local agriculture.
Its ice cream cases hold 24 flavors of ice cream including 12 signature core flavors that the creamery makes year-round at all stores. The other spots are filled with monthly specials and seasonal favorites, along with dairy-free sorbet and vegan ice cream.
