Part Of State Street To Close This Weekend For Dining, Shopping

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Doylestown Borough is scheduled to again close streets this weekend, giving shops and restaurants more area for outdoor dining and sales as they recover from the shock of the coronavirus pandemic.

Street closures are planned Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, July 3, W. State Street from Hamilton to Clinton will be closed from 4 p.m. to midnight.

The same stretch of the road will close again on Saturday, July 4 during the same hours.

"Locals and visitors can expect to see increased outdoor seating at restaurants, additional outdoor shopping, and the rare experience to walk down historic State Street. Outdoor dining, shopping, and pop-up marketplaces will continue in tandem throughout town with the street closure pilot program," according to information from the borough.

During the time of the closures, sidewalks will be closed to pedestrians and reserved for neighboring businesses to expand dining and shopping setups. The street will be reserved for pedestrian traffic. "Social distancing remains critical in our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and pedestrians will be expected to maintain a safe distance between one another," the borough said.

Based on the feedback and success of the program, additional street closures may be planned, according to the borough.
