DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Roundabouts on Easton Road are one step closer to reality, after the Doylestown Township Supervisors this week voted to not oppose PennDOT's plans.

PennDOT is proposing two roundabouts: one at S. Easton and New Britain roads, and another at S. Easton and Sauerman roads.

During a meeting Tuesday, the supervisors voted 3-1 to not oppose Penn DOT moving forward with the roundabout project.

The purpose of the roundabouts is to increase safety and reduce crashes, PennDOT has said. The roundabouts will also reduce speeds and improve access, PennDOT says.

Preliminary engineering on the project, which will be 100 percent federally funded, is underway. A project cost has not been offered.

According to the project timeline, a public meeting on the roundabouts will be held in 2020. Final design will be completed in 2021, and the roundabouts are scheduled to be completed by 2023.

Construction will take 12 months, according to PennDOT.
