Plumstead Home Damaged By Unseen Intruder: Police

PLUMSTEAD, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department responded to a number of incidents between March 28 and April 3.

Monday, March 28

2:32 a.m. — Officers investigated a parked car in the Plumstead Square shopping center that did not have valid registration displayed. They then learned the driver had an active bench warrant for his arrest with the Bucks County Sheriff Office. The 39-year-old Macungie man was taken into custody and was later released to the Bucks County Sheriffs.

1 p.m. — Officers responded to a call for a house fire on Old Easton Road. The Plumsteadville Fire Company along with several other surrounding fire departments responded to extinguish the fire and remained on scene. The home was unoccupied at the time of the call.

Thursday, March 31

7:57 p.m. — Officers stopped a blue Chevy pickup on North Easton Road. Upon contact, an officer smelled alcohol. The 31-year-old driver was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and police arrested him for suspicion of driving under the influence. Any charges are pending blood evidence results.

Friday, April 1

4:24 p.m. — Officers responded to the Giant on Swamp Road in reference to a retail theft on Wednesday, when someone concealed items with an estimated value of $200 before exiting the store without paying. The incident is currently under investigation.

Saturday, April 2

9:01 a.m. — Officers investigated a call about a suspicious occurrence at a vacant property on Point Pleasant Pike. They saw damage to the home's rear door and a window left open on the second floor. Officers performed an interior check, and no contact was made. The owner of the property was made aware of the damages, and the incident is under investigation.

Sunday, April 3

6:36 p.m. — Officers investigated a complaint about a man panhandling in the Cross Keys Shopping Center. Upon arrival, police spoke with store employees who had concerns about the situation. The subject was no longer on scene at the time of the officers' arrival.
