PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — Lurleen Worthington and Jim McComb have officially announced their campaign for two open seats on the Plumstead Township Board of Supervisors after winning the GOP Primary on Tuesday.

“Unlike other candidates, Lurleen and I are not newcomers to Plumstead Township,” said Jim
McComb, chairman of the Plumstead Board of Supervisors. “With more than 56 years of residency here, we understand what it takes to ensure low taxes, enhanced infrastructure, and provide outstanding safety for all residents," they said in their campaign announcement.

McComb is an incumbent six-year supervisor and has served as chairman for three years. He cites his leadership "as having yielded near-unanimous votes by all members of the board regarding policies, budgets, and initiatives."

McComb is a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran. Under his leadership, he said taxpayer funds have been managed responsibly, with commonsense budgets that prioritized key services.

"Infrastructure has been well-maintained and improved, roadways upgraded, walking trails expanded, and public water supplies protected and enhanced," he said. "I also secured increased funding for land preservation and provisioned additional funding of police, fire, and EMS services."

Worthington currently serves on the Environmental Advisory Council and has been actively engaged in the community for many years. She points to her business and volunteer experiences as providing her "outstanding perspectives and insights to creatively solve challenges while managing costs and budgets. I am committed to keeping taxes as low as possible while ensuring outstanding public services."

The two candidates said they will focus on spending and investing responsibly and addressing residents’ needs.

"We are committed to preventing the out-of-control tax increases we’ve seen in neighboring townships and school districts," they said. "Our priorities include maintaining and improving infrastructure and public safety services (police, fire and EMS) and preserving open space and farmland wherever possible."

They added, "We share a vision to preserve and enhance what makes Plumstead, Plumstead: an
outstanding place to live, work and raise a family."
