NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — A distracted driver crashed into a utility pole in New Britain Township on Christmas, and the scene was captured on video. Local police are now sharing that video, with the hopes that it will educate the public on the dangers of distracted driving.

The driver was not injured in the crash but it caused the replacement of two poles, and closed the road overnight.

The video shows the crash, which happened just before 5 p.m.

The car was heading south on Upper Stump Road when it left the roadway along the 700 block. It went head-on into a utility pole and flipped. The struck pole was destroyed and a second pole was knocked down. The pole, wires, cables and debris were all over the roadway, which made it impassable, police said.

Both poles were replaced, requiring PECO and Verizon to respond.
