Schoenfeld, a former college basketball standout known for his high-energy, impeccable honesty, and charismatic personality, was a founding father of the CBOA. The annual award bearing his name is the highest honor the association bestows upon a collegiate program.

The Aggies finished the 2024-25 regular season 13-12 overall and 8-6 in conference play to earn the second seed heading into the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom playoffs. They host Misericordia University in the MAC semifinals at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26.
