Questions
Why are you running for school board? If elected, what will your priorities be?
I'm running for school board because our district needs leadership that will rebuild trust, strengthen community ties, and restore a focus on students. I believe all stakeholders — students, parents, teachers, community members, and taxpayers — deserve transparency, accountability, and respect from the board. My priorities include ensuring academic excellence, supporting fiscally responsible decisions, and creating open, constructive dialogue. Every decision I make will reflect a commitment to student success and responsible stewardship of public resources.
What do you see as the major issues facing the district and how would you address them?
A major issue is the erosion of trust — between the board and parents, teachers, students, and even taxpayers who may not have children in the schools but invest in our district through their tax dollars. To address this, I’ll advocate for transparent decision-making, clear communication, and policies that reflect community input and student needs. We must also ensure budget priorities are aligned with classroom impact and responsible spending.
The past few years have been turbulent in the district. How will you bring stability?
Stability begins with rebuilding relationships and reestablishing trust. As a law enforcement officer and parent, I’ve seen the value of respectful, consistent communication and accountability. I will listen to all voices — whether parents, teachers, or residents without school-age children — and lead with a calm, common sense approach. Stability also requires a renewed focus on students and families, data-driven decisions, and avoiding distractions rooted in national politics.
What changes should be made at the state and federal level regarding public education and what is your opinion of what is happening at the federal level with funding and educational priorities?
We need a greater commitment to equitable and sustainable funding from both state and federal governments. Local school boards often shoulder tough decisions with limited resources. I support increased flexibility for districts to address their unique needs while ensuring tax dollars are spent effectively and transparently. Education should be funded in a way that supports both academic rigor and student well-being—without unnecessary political interference.
