HUNTINGDON, PA — Cosmo DiNardo, serving a life sentence for four grisly murders on his family's Bucks County farm in July 2017, has been transferred to a new prison, state officials confirmed Friday.

DiNardo, a Bensalem native, was transferred from SCI Retreat to SCI Huntingdon on Jan. 15, according to Susan McNaughton, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections. Huntingdon houses all levels of inmates and is one of the DOC’s highest-security facilities, McNaughton said.

McNaughton would not comment on the reason for the transfer.

"We do not discuss why we move inmates from one prison to another," McNaughton said.

On Friday, Gov. Tom Wolf called for the full closure of SCI Retreat. In a news release announcing the closure, Wolf said the prison’s inmate population will be gradually relocated to other DOC facilities.

Under state law, there is a minimum four-month closure process, which means the facility won't close before mid-May.

DiNardo pleaded guilty to the shooting deaths of Dean Finocchiaro, 19, of Middletown Township, Tom Meo, 21, of Plumstead Township, and Mark Sturgis, 22, of Pennsburg. DiNardo also confessed to killing Jimi Patrick, 19, of Newtown Township.

All four men were shot and killed at DiNardo's family's farm in Solebury Township. RELATED: The Solebury Farm Mystery Timeline

His cousin, Sean Kratz, was found guilty by a jury in November and will serve life in prison in connection with three of the deaths.
