Red Bull Thief Wanted By Warrington Police Arrested In New Jersey
To assist in identifying the suspect, Warrington officers collaborated with other law enforcement agencies in using facial ID technology.
WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A New Jersey man wanted for retail theft in Warrington Township was taken into custody on May 27 in New Jersey after he was identified through facial recognition technology.
On Oct. 22, 2024, police responded to a retail theft report at Wegmans. Loss prevention personnel told police that two days earlier an unidentified individual, wearing a Batman t-shirt and pajama pants, entered the store, filled a shopping cart with several cases of Red Bull, and left without making a purchase. The store has estimated the loss at $199.39.

To assist in identifying the suspect, Warrington officers reached out to other law enforcement agencies, including the Ephrata and Lower Makefield police departments, which led to the identification of Kevin McMichael, a 31-year-old from Highland Park, New Jersey, through facial recognition technology.
A warrant for McMichael's was issued, and he was arrested on May 27 in Highland Park on unrelated charges, along with outstanding warrants from Lower Makefield and Warrington.

Michael was arraigned on June 10 by Judge Kronnagel in Morrisville who set his bail at $5,000 unsecured.
