Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued In Eastern PA

A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for the Philadelphia region Friday through 9 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for the Philadelphia region Friday through 9 p.m. The watch is in place for the following counties: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia.

Additionally, a severe thunderstorm warning — an upgraded threat — is in place in Lehigh County, northwestern Bucks County and southern Northampton County in eastern Pennsylvania through 5:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service said at 4:40 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was located over Neffs about nine miles northwest of Allentown. The storm is moving east at 30 mph.

At 5:06 p.m., the storm was located over Old Orchard, near Easton, moving east at 35 mph.

The storm features 60 mph wind gusts, which means it could cause damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines.

Locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm warning include Allentown, Easton, Bethlehem, Forks, Northampton, Wilson, Hellertown, Nazareth, Slatington, Bath, Alpha, Walnutport,
Ferndale, West Easton, Milford, Tatamy, Bloomsbury, Riegelsville, Steuben, and Glendon.
