Siren Records Celebrate Record Store Day
An album release party and performance by local band Peasant highlights Saturday's celebration of Record Store Day.

The sixth annual Record Store Day is Saturday and Siren Records has a full catalog of vinyl classics and live music scheduled to celebrate the occasion.
The shop, located 25 E. State Street near The County Theater, opens at 10 a.m. Saturday and will host a special performance by locally grown band Peasant at 3 p.m. in preparation of the 4 p.m. album release. There's also a wide selection of albums from artists including Aerosmith, Mumford & Sons and Freank Zappa, just to name a few.
Record Store Day began in 2007 as a way to celebrate independently-owned record stores, according to the event website. It is held annually on the third Saturday in April.

"This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day," according to the Record Store Day website.
