Warrington Grants Special Equestrians 30-Year Lease Extension

WARRINGTON, PA — Special Equestrians has reached an agreement with Warrington Township to extend its land lease for an additional 30 years, securing the future of the organization’s therapeutic riding and equine-assisted services for decades to come.

Located on township-owned property since its founding, Special Equestrians has worked in close partnership with the township to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where individuals of all ages can experience the physical, emotional, and cognitive benefits of equine-assisted activities. The newly approved lease extension reflects a shared commitment to strengthening this partnership and supporting families who rely on these essential services.

“We are deeply grateful to Warrington Township for their continued trust and support,” said Janice Witt, Executive Director of Special Equestrians. “This extension gives us the stability to dream big. It ensures that we can continue providing life-changing therapies, invest in the future of our facility, and serve our community for many years to come.”

The 30-year extension not only reinforces the township’s belief in Special Equestrians’ mission, but also affirms the longstanding collaboration that has helped the center grow into a respected regional resource for therapeutic riding, hippotherapy, and equine-assisted services and learning. With this renewed partnership, the organization can continue expanding programs, supporting families, and offering a place of connection, healing, and hope.

“Warrington Township is proud to renew our lease with Special Equestrians for another 20+ years,” shares Angela Benner, Warrington Township Manager. “Their presence in our township enriches the community by providing life-changing therapeutic services. This lease reflects our shared commitment to inclusion, wellness, and the unique bond between people and horses."

Special Equestrians is a non-profit organization that offers equine-assisted therapy and activities to individuals with physical, emotional, mental health and cognitive disabilities.

Through therapeutic horseback riding and equine-assisted services, Special Equestrians provides a unique and effective approach to improving the lives of people of all ages.

The organization serves individuals with a variety of challenges, including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, ADHD, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, brain injuries, as well as people in recovery helping them build confidence, improve mobility, enhance self-awareness and social skills, and foster emotional well-being.
