These Shoes are Made for Winning Money
Custom designed shoes created by students from Central Bucks South helped the school place in the top 50 finalists and earn a chance to win $60,000.
Central Bucks High School South art teacher Jessica Fidler had students in her fine arts classes created a line of custom sneakers using shoes donated by Vans Shoes as part of its annual Custom Culture art competition.
The students were then responsible for designing and executing four designs based on the following categories: art, music, action sports, and local flavor. The finished products are currently on display in South’s showcase by the main office. The students joined a field of 1,500 other entries and impressed the judges at Vans Shoes enough to make it into the top 50.
The contest now divides the schools into five separate regions, 10 each, and turns the voting over to the community. The public can cast their ballots at this link until May 13. Just click on the "Vote Now" banner, select the Northeast section and click the vote now bubble under CB South.

According to the contest website, the five schools as determined by online voting will be notified on May 14th and given a travel budget to fly to New York City for the final event, which will feature surprise celebrity judges who will decide the winner.
The winner will receive a $50,000 grand prize for their art program, and the four runners up will each receive $4,000 prizes for their programs, too. A contest partner, Journeys, will also be awarding prize money to the school with the best Local Flavor-themed shoe in the amount of a $10,000 donation to that school's art program.
